News continues arriving to MHProNews in the wake of modular builder Innovative Building Systems’ (IBS) sudden Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which we last covered May 16, 2016, as dailyitem reports 280 people at the Excel Homes plant in Liverpool, PA have lost their jobs, effective May 13.
Begun in 1984, other facilities that have closed in addition to the Liverpool plant include Keiser Homes in Oxford, Maine and MODUKRAF modular homes in Rocky Mount, Virginia. The website for IBS continues to depict primarily commercial, industrial and educational modular building, mostly out of steel; the website for MODUKRAF homes says the company is currently out of business.
The Excel Homes website itself continues uninterrupted, with all the models and descriptions of quality. It also reveals the Excel Homes family of businesses, in addition to the ones already named: Epoch Homes, All American Homes, Future Homes, IDBS and HandCrafted Homes.
It could not be immediately determined the total number of employees affected nor how many plants closed, but all were under the umbrella of Innovative Building Systems, which billed itself as the largest modular builder in the U. S. ##
