In a January, 2011 online poll of 2,079 adults over 18, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Trulia, the real estate search engine, 70 percent still view home ownership as being part of their American Dream, and 78 percent think their home is the best investment they have ever made. The results showed 14 percent would walk away from their homes if they could, and 20 percent feel trapped in their “underwater” homes. With 88 percent of 18-34 year old renters hoping to be homeowners some day, and 26 percent of those surveyed having a more positive attitude about home ownership now than six months ago, the future of the housing market brightens.
