MarketWatch tells MHProNews Universal Forest Products, Inc. (UFPI) reported net earnings of $17.5 million for the second quarter of 2012 on net sales of $593.2 million, a 9.1 percent increase over net sales of $544.1 million that produced net income of $4.3 million for the second quarter of 2011. Net sales increased in four of five markets. Noting the increase in shipments of manufactured housing for April and May, UFPI’s report says gross sales in its manufactured housing market rose 24.9 percent over the same period of 2011 to $80.7 million. UFPI also said one third of company sales in this market were for modular homes. A conference call conducted this morning will be available through Aug. 17, 2012. The company, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, supplies the manufactured and modular housing industries with structural and specialty wood products.
