Brexit now looks hopeful, as a tentative deal has been reached, even though Britain’s Nigel Farage doesn’t like it. It sounds like Ukraine-gate, while it will go on for some time, is just the latest iteration of nearly 3 years of efforts to impeach President Donald J. Trump – there is no there there, save perhaps for Hunter and former VP Joe Biden. The planned 2020 G7 meeting at the Trump Doral property has brought howls over the “emoluments clause” – but based upon the word heard, it is being done at cost, without profit; if so, that sounds like yet another impeachment fever nothing burger. There is a complete menu of items that our left-right news summary cover this evening that influenced some investors. That said, our focus this evening will be the “unconventional” solution that President Trump’s Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have reportedly reached with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Kurds is a stunning turnaround from just 24-48 hours ago. That will be our focus this evening.
Regular readers please note there are a few tweaks to some of the standard portions of our evening market/investing report. Read carefully as some changes of the ‘standard text’ that follows before our left-right headlines and also in other features near the end of tonight’s reports.
Every evening our headlines that follow provide snapshots from two major media outlets on each side of the left-right news spectrum that reflect topics that influence or move investor sentiment. In moments on this business evening report, you can get ‘insights-at-a-glance.’
This report also sets the broader context for manufactured housing markets, in keeping with our mantra, “News through the lens of manufactured homes and factory-built housing” ©.

Tonight’s Business/Market/Political Impact Spotlight –
Our sources in the Washington, D.C. metro had told us to be patient on what President Trump was doing with the situation that developed when the U.S. military was suddenly told to pull out of Syria. Leaders among both Democrats and Republicans swiftly condemned the president’s decision.
If this 5-day cease fire and related agreement indeed holds, it could be a historic victory instead of a foreign policy embarrassment.
A Middle Eastern expert familiar with the Kurds and Turks told us to be patient, and watch developments. That proved to be sound advice.
GOP Senator Rand Paul (KY-R) was almost alone in praising President Trump, even before the cease fire was announced. Paul has been a steadfast opponent of ‘neocons’ who support ‘endless wars.’
This may be latest example of the emergence of a vision for what the “Trump Doctrine” is. When President Trump has said, “America First,” he has also said that other nation’s of course have to put their interests first too. He is not as quick as several of his predecessors to deploy American troops. That may be good news for wide swaths of the electorate.
Of course, it will all depend on how well this deal holds and given some 200 years of battles between Turks and Kurds, there are no guarantees. But this also reflects just how silly some of the political narratives are in our nation, because putting pressure on Turkey, Kurds or anyone else is by definition ‘interference’ in their internal affairs. China, Russia, North Korea, Iran – even our allies – try to ‘interfere’ with our domestic politics too. That’s part of the reason why spies and influence campaigns exist.
President Washington encouraged commerce with all and entangling alliances with none. Would that work in today’s world? This incremental rollout of the ‘Trump Doctrine’ may shed light on that question.
We will monitor this development, as it will likely have an impact on the steady march toward election day 2020. That in turn will impact business and the markets.
