One of the subsidiaries of Universal Forest Products, Inc. (NASDAQ:UFPI) has agreed to purchase the assets of National Fiber, a manufacturer of environmentally sound cellulose insulation serving clients in the Northeastern U. S. Located in Belchertown, Massachusetts, National Fiber also sells special machines required to install the insulation, and offers training and technical support to installers, according to twst.com. UFPI’s CEO Matthew J. Missad says, “National Fiber has built a solid business and an excellent reputation as a leader in the cellulose insulation industry, using predominantly recycled materials.” With a recycled content of 83 percent or better, the insulation is made from recycled newsprint, has an excellent R-value and a Class-A fire rating. While neither the purchase price nor which subsidiary made the acquisition was immediately available, 2014 sales are projected at $12.5 million.
