Rick Robinson of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) has informed MHProNews that the city council of El Monte, California, county of Los Angeles, on March 30, 2015 approved Urgency Ordinance No. 2852 to extend the existing manufactured home (MH) rent stabilization for an additional three months, through July 3, 2015.
On April 29, 2015 the city mailed notices seeking feedback from community owners, managers, residents and other interested parties regarding the rent stabilization issue. On May 4 the city was to have conducted another meeting with community owners and other interested parties for their input.
In the meantime, the city staff has been instructed to formulate regulatory options for rent stabilization and discuss the issue with stakeholders. Since the current measure expires July 3, it is anticipated the El Monte City Council will approve an updated ordinance by June 2, 2015. ##
