Following a story MHProNews wrote about developer Urban Splash building 43 modular homes at New Islington, Manchester, in the UK, on Jan. 5, 2016, the Salford City Council, a borough of Greater Manchester, is expected to approve the construction of 71 modular terraced homes. In addition, the project calls for 100 apartments, according to hoUSe’s concept, says placenorthwest.co.uk.
Planned for a four acre site off Springfield Road, consumers can choose between a 1,000 square foot two story- home, or a 1,500 square foot three story-home, and will include parking spaces. The architect is shedkm, the same as for the New Islington project.
Urban Splash had originally planned the property for a 30,000 square-foot supermarket and 40 homes, but construction never got going, and as the housing market improved, the firm chose to build housing instead.
Planning officers for the city council have recommended a go ahead for the project, with approval expected at the next planning committee meeting Jan. 21, 2015. ##
