The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) reports home manufacturers Clayton Homes, Fleetwood Homes, Golden West Homes, Hallmark Homes, Karsten Homes, and Skyline Corp. will partner with the Calif. Manufactured Housing Institute and the Systems Building Research Alliance to research new and innovative envelope systems. With wall and roof building technologies expected to be the focus of energy codes and standards in the near future, this consortium will receive $1.4 million from the Calif. Energy Commission (CEC), research that will apply to manufactured and modular homes. As MHProNews has learned, matching funds will come from the Dept. of Energy’s Building America (ARIES) team, as well as from stakeholders including AFM Corp., BASF, Dow Chemical Company, Johns Manville Corp., Owens Corning, and Senco.
