Traffic has been drawn like a magnet to that Shiffman-Sun connected report – linked below – which is currently the runaway #1 among the vexing dozen (see below) top reports on MHProNews.  As ‘hot’ and well-read as the controversial top report that swirls around Shiffman led Sun, it is entirely possible that the number 2 report month-to-date – shown in the top 15 listed below – as of 6.15.2023 as of 07:03 AM CDT had more views than Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) members and/or aligned MHInsider, ManufacturedHomes.com, MHReview, and George Allen’s news and views blogs combined. As hot as May engagement by industry professionals was on MHProNews, (top year to date for a full month), the June readership has opened hotter still. So, there is significant anecdotal evidence that many will recognize the faux (think the ‘wanna be’ list of bloggers above) and will be drawn to what’s real and backed up by evidence, proper sourcing, and sound analysis.

There are numerous possible takeaways from the periodic reports on ‘what’s hot’ on MHProNews and/or MHLivingNews. Among them is that what MHI and those MHI competitors ignore, spin, or downplay has a de facto yardstick for thinking manufactured housing industry professionals to consider. Objective reality is the focus here, not the agenda driven items churned out by those who carry water for MHI and their consolidation-focused insiders, which MHI’s own leaders decline to publicly engage on. Vocabulary defined vexing like this: “extremely annoying or displeasing. synonyms: exasperating, infuriating, maddening displeasing. causing displeasure or lacking pleasing qualities. adjective. causing irritation or annoyance.” To put it politely, numbers of MHI connected corporate and staff leaders find MHProNews’ reports – vexing. Others use in that same group more colorful language.  Be that as it may, in no particular order of importance are the following observations about the ‘vexing dozen’ reports posted above.

1. The report on Clayton Homes employee driven-insights (linked above and here) was per WordPress posted 2023/06/15 at 5:15 am. Per Webalizer by 15-Jun-2023 07:03 AM CDT already thousands of hits on that report made it the #10 month-to-date. Before people at MHI or their ‘lap dog’ bloggers and publishers are having their morning coffee, thousands of professionals are checking out the latest on MHProNews.
2. It is an open-question where the legal issues swirling around Brian Benderoff, Dr. Billy Gonte and that purported insurance scam with Gary Shiffman may lead. But Cavco’s drama with Joseph “Joe” Stegmayer periodically bubbled up in the news for some 4 years before they were closed with millions in fines and purported whistleblower payouts too.  While MHI plays the ‘awards’ to companies that are often connected to scandals game and they seemingly utilize their aligned bloggers to provide digital spin and distractions, MHProNews readers have made that Shiffman connected report the runaway best year to date. Curious minds want to know.
3. MHProNews has noted that since we first published the Rollohomes report it has been a perennial favorite. While it is partially a matter of speculation (an educated guess), at least some of that traffic may be from outsiders looking into manufactured housing. Rollohomes is a fact-based reminder that the mobile home turned manufactured home industry used to do several times the current and pathetically anemic levels of performance. Curious minds want to know, and others aren’t, can’t, don’t, or won’t give them this type of factual and evidence-based information about more robust days in MHVille.
4. Muck raking done properly is an important aspect of authentic reporting and analysis. But the Paul Bradley and ROC USA connected report is a reminder that there are good news items to report in MHVille. Some of MHI’s members are good news generators. Though published near the end of May (5.30.2023), it is still #5 for the month. Curious minds want to know and that report has some insights on financing and other topics readers won’t likely find anywhere else in MHVille.
5. Should ELS have paid $43 million dollars for MHVillage, Datacomp, and MHInsider? To understand why they might have done so, ICYMI, check out that report. Your peers in MHVille found it to be highly relevant, as it ranks #4.
6. The report that used the infamous quotation “Show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime.” attributed to Lavrentiy Beria, head of Joseph Stalin’s Soviet (Communist) secret police is #6 on MHProNews as of the date and time shown above. Why? Perhaps it is due in part to some talking head on television or radio using that remark, people doing a search for it on their smartphones as they are watching or listening, seeking to learn more. It may also be because readers here did a site search and found it again because something made them think about it. That something in mainstream news is likely the latest indictment of deposed President Trump. But what must be stressed anew is this. Engagement on our site in 2022, per sources like Webalizer and using comparisons by SimilarWeb, was several times higher per visitor than it is on big mainstream news sites such as CNN or Fox News. For whatever reason, people are clicking our links – and the commonsense thinking is because they are interested in what they are reading and they want to know more about it. Good place to mention “curious minds want to know,” right? But even more so, because too few sites of any kind provide a routine effort to shed light on the big picture, including historic, readers once they find us want to know more. Bluntly, our report style gets and keeps people coming back for more. Pageviews per visitor data doesn’t lie.
7. The number two report for the month of June to date sheds light on just how much it must bother thousands of manufactured housing industry professionals, investors, and others that the industry is underperforming so badly. Our quarterly reviews are routinely popular, even though they are lengthy. Let’s be blunt again. Others want to do posts that are several hundred words long and then stop. MHI’s idea of emailed news that they don’t post on their own website are sometimes measured in dozens of words per item. To combine Cavco data, analyst Gregory Palm’s keen question, facts on industry underperformance, plus the analysis found nowhere else in MHVille in a single report is obviously magnetic. MHI appears to demonstrably palter and posture, but the stats and data published here don’t lie.
