MHProNews has learned of a letter sent to the Minot Daily News from a woman whose single-mother daughter wisely moved her manufactured home out of the flood zone in advance of the raging Souris River this past spring, but now has no place to site it. The original community, Valerie Stadick has been told, is being redeveloped as apartments. Due to the oil boom that is drawing thousands of people seeking work, and the homes lost to the flood, there is a shortage of housing, and manufactured home sites. Dissatisfied with what was available to purchase in existing MHCs, her daughter applied for FEMA housing. She was denied because her home was not damaged, and many of the home sites are being taken for FEMA homes, others occupied by oil workers. Ms. Stadick says her daughter has a $500 a month manufactured home payment, but no place to site the home.
