Volunteers in Clinton Township, Michigan, just north of Detroit constructed a ramp to the manufactured home of Christian Falk so her 39 year-old amputee/stroke victim son could exit the home in his wheelchair, as told to MHProNews by macombdaily.com. Clinton Township Fire Chief John Shea, who initiated the project after learning the fire department had been called to assist Sean Falk in getting out of the home at Windsor Farms manufactured home community (MHC), said, “We reached out to some of our partners in the community and they really came through.” Hazel Park Lions Club member Larry Burleson, who has helped the service club build over 40 ramps for handicapped people, teamed with several off-duty firefighters to construct the ramp. 1-800 BoardUp provided $1,700 in tools and equipment, and working with Macomb County Habitat for Humanity, built the ramp in two days. “I think they did a very good job,” said Mrs. Falk. “They are extremely good men.” ##
