The first item up today is a teaser for a looming report – one made possible by news tips by multiple corporate insiders. Those tips have been confirmed by a source in that organization’s management.
That’s an appropriate opportunity to mention the following.
There’s no other trade news source serving manufactured housing professionals today besides MHProNews that periodically receives the sometimes-stark and always interesting insights into what’s behind the veil in the MHVille’s companies and trade associations. Check that; if others receive tips of relevant news – instead of distracting eye candy or some self-serving item – they apparently don’t publish it. We’ve routinely checked. Others seem to prefer the party line of the powers that be.
That’s their right, of course. The corollary to protected free speech is the right to not speak.
However, that dynamic may explain why MHProNews gets a periodic diet of insider insights from sources inside or connected to various organizations. It may also shed light on why this publication is the runaway most-read news source in manufactured housing. Because the party line fails to explain why the industry is underperforming. Indeed, the party line arguably often seeks to obscures the truth, even when stating facts. Given the value proposition of manufactured housing, only fumbles, deliberate action and/or inaction can shed light on why there haven’t been hundreds of thousands of manufactured homes built annually in recent years.
All Kinds of Sources – and Reasons to Share, Read and Learn
There are times when a given source is known by our team, but other times that whistleblowers and tipster sources for revealing documents or other insights were not previously known. Sometimes information is sent anonymously. An example of the later in recent weeks is linked below.
Either way, news tips and whistleblower insights are one way that almost anyone in MHVille can do their part to clean up whatever has been hidden or swept under the rug for too many years.
The nation is going through a grueling but hopefully cathartic period. The status quo pre-COVID19 was always unsustainable for the long-term. It was just a question of what sort of difficult shock would be necessary to awaken those slowly being gobbled up by a rigged system.
On both the political left and right, there have been populists who have identified the problems. But they at various times arguably failed to provide the most logical solutions. Indeed, some of the ‘solutions’ proposed are either head-fakes or could make existing problems worse.
In the reports that follow for the week that was from 3.29 to 4.5.2020, various slices of the challenges that face our nation and our industry are examined. With tens of millions in various degrees of CCP Virus lockdown, including some professionals involved in our industry, the time to skip a TV program and read what’s occurring is more readily available. Indeed, some of the hottest read reports on MHProNews occurred in March, just as the economic ripples of the COVID19 pandemic spread.

As you read the headlines below, consider the wide array of topics. Where else is this to be found in our industry? With no further adieu, your Sunday smorgasbord of reports, analysis, expert commentary and insider insights – including other recent whistleblower insights – await.

Frédéric Bastiat said in his Essays on Political Economy (ed. 1874) that “All monopolies are detestable, but the worst of all is the monopoly of education.” Note that ‘education’ and ‘information’ are kindred spirits.
Seemingly on the other side of the political spectrum was this from Franklin D. Roosevelt, who said: “We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace—business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering.
They had begun to consider the government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob.”
Those two quotes above reflect a pattern of insight that should be sinking deeper in the minds of our industry’s professionals. The rich and famous have for centuries often used their affluence to buy or influence ‘front’ people and organizations. Thus the insight by Danny Glover who was quoted in the docudrama Shadows of Liberty that there is a monopoly of both money and information.
Politics Downstream from Culture, Mad as Hell, Affordable Housing and Manufactured Homes
What’s gone wrong in manufactured housing? It is parallel, although perhaps more severe in ways, with what has gone awry in society in the U.S. and abroad. There is a growing battle with monopolization and with oligarchs.
Money honestly earned is to be celebrated. Money earned by manipulation, deception, fraud or worse is rightly condemned by civilized people and societies.
The BBC once called the New York Times’ mantra “All the News That’s Fit to Print” the most famous slogan in journalism. That’s their slogan, not ours.
But here in MHVille, this is the only place on a Sunday that you’ll find the newest installment of “News through the lens of manufactured homes and factory-built housing” © where “We Provide, You Decide.” © (Affordable housing, manufactured homes, week in review, reports, fact-checks, analysis, and commentary.
