Every Day You Are Given Is the First Day And The Last Day Of Your Life

Every day you are given is the first day and the last day of your life. Fred Buechner. I have probably given you more information on this topic than you wanted so I will just leave it there and ask you to consider what this quote means to you. . .

“If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves.” Thomas Edison. I have never met a person in my world travels that didn’t have a plan, goal, dream, desire, or hope for something new, better, different, or just more of the same stuff they have been given or experienced over the years. As a mentor to dozens of aspiring authors and speakers, one thing I have found to be a common issue or concern for many of them was that they didn’t believe they had the capability, right, confidence, talent, or competence to speak or write but they still had this inner urging or nudge to do the one that kept pushing them on. I can also say that over the years most of them wrote their first book and went on to write more or started a speaking career that gave them a great deal of satisfaction. We all have potential talents, creativity, and the ability to do more regardless of its; definition, purpose, objectives, or meaning. I will guarantee that everyone reading this could be accomplishing something new or different whether mentoring young adults to starting an art or music sideline. I know I did many years ago – I started playing the spoons, but I won’t bore you with all the details but if we are ever in a club or bar together and the band is playing I’ll be happy to demonstrate my “spoon playing skills”

“The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing.” Walt Disney. Imagine if Walt could come back today and witness all that he started has become. How about Henry Ford, think he would be surprised at the current state of the organization he created, or what about Marie Curie? It’s called action folks – not words, promises dreams, hopes, plans, etc. it’s called start, begin and keep going and not quitting. It’s not letting age, gender, health, finances, or anything get in your way. I have a few Heroes who fall into this category; just to mention a few; Abe Lincoln, Victor, Frankl, Helen Keller, and Chris Reeve. All of these folks and thousands of others have broken barriers and overcome amazing obstacles in the process. What could you be doing? What are you waiting for? What’s holding you back? You will never know what you could have tried, done, accomplished, or overcome until you start. Waiting for the right circumstances is stupid and a waste of time but I’ll leave it here . . . for now!

” I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” Nelson Mandela. This is one person who has been a model of managing life’s fears and obstacles. There are only two primary human emotions – love and fear (all other emotions are sub-categories of these) – and what life offers each of us again and again in the face of all trials, problems, adversity, failure, etc. regardless of their definition; health, financial, career, relationships is the choice of which one of them will dominate and control our thoughts, behaviors, decisions, and actions and ultimately our outcomes and circumstances.
