Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” George Bernard Shaw. This quote could be used to further discuss the previous message but instead I would like to go in a different direction. And this is to choose the path of continuous learning as one of your life mission’s. Change is happening around us every minute in every life area and many of these changes will have either a direct or indirect impact on our lifestyle. I won’t use social media as an example because that would take a book, but I will just mention a few that can change the course of our lives. All change brings with it the ability and right for us to accept it or reject it and which direction we go can have a significant influence on our future. There are a wide variety of learning options today from podcasts to books, from seminars to articles like mine, from taking courses to going for advanced degrees and there is the option to just wait until change impacts us before we grow or prepare for what lies ahead. One of my favorite quotes was by a Native American Indian many years ago when they were surrounded by the Calvary and one of the braves came to the chief and said, “We are surrounded, we all are going to die, what can we do?” The Chief’s response – “We are going to attack.” “WHAT” said the brave, you are crazy”. And the Chief’s final response, “It’s better to take a dangerous chance than to wait safely for something worse.” Doesn’t that say it all? To choose how to prepare, grow and learn what will be necessary for you to have available in the future is and can be a very timeless process, but consider – if something happens before you are ready – what about those consequences? Daily improving your skills, wisdom and mind development actions etc. The future is a blank slate and can be filled with positives, negatives or a combination of both. You have a choice to be ready for them when they come or wait till, they come and try and figure out how to play catch up. A simple choice!
