Quote for the week
“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”

Whatever happened to the simple thank you, please, and other various common courtesies? Have we become so busy, insensitive, and self-centered that we no longer have the time or interest in exchanging these few, but simple, niceties?
As a professional speaker, I speak at least 50 times each year and travel over 100,000 air miles. I have a great deal of time to observe people from all walks of life in all parts of the U.S. and many other countries and I have found that in general most people are too self-centered to take a few seconds or minutes to treat others with courtesy or respect.
How would you rate yourself on the courtesy scale? Why not give yourself a rating from 1-10. Then ask others with whom you come in frequent contact to rate you. If everyone rates you within 1-2 numbers of your own rating (whatever it is), then good for you. You are in touch with reality, regardless of where you fall on the scale.
Question
How would you rate yourself on the courtesy scale?
