“Self-image sets the boundaries of individual accomplishment.” Maxwell Maltz. His writing has changed the lives of millions of people during the past decades. He was ahead of his time when it came to the power of thinking and self-image. The only other person I think of when I consider all Maltz accomplished was Joseph Murphy the author of, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. If you have never read it – I highly recommend it. I can’t cover the topic of self-image and self-esteem in a short 75 words but what I can do is say that according to every professional in the Psychology field – is that your self-image.
“Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.” Ernest Holmes. We are all projection entities. Projection is a psychological term that means basically that what you don’t like about yourself – you see it (project it) as part of those around you. What you like about others that isn’t in you, you tend to self-project it back into yourself (I just made that one up). Let me state it another way . . . every thought you have comes from somewhere inside you. From your past, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your plans, etc. So, if you are surrounded by people you don’t like – look in the mirror first. If your life is filled with drama, negatives, uncertainty, etc. – look in the mirror first. If you are fearful about the future – do I have to keep repeating your response? We are all what I call self-magnets and we attract to us a reflection of what and who we are, what we feel, what we believe, what we want etc. So, it’s simple really if you want something in your life to be different – look in the mirror first and don’t point fingers.
“One today is worth two tomorrows.” Ben Franklin. Ever wondered if today was your last day here? Come on Tim, wisdom is not about being morbid or negative. Sorry, just trying to deal with a bit of reality. Last year I lost several special people in my life and I didn’t know I was going to when the year started. I’ll wager last year you lost at least one person who was special in some way. Today – it’s just a day, 24 hours one of 365 others this year – big deal. Well, it is for thousands of people every day in the US alone. What is tomorrow anyway? It’s the future, a blank slate, filled with potential and unknowns both positive and negative. Or for many people is just another day – same stuff, different day. Ever known someone who was told they only had so much time to live left? Well, folks – that’s all of us cause one day whether we know it or not, it will be our last day here. So, my question is how do you want to leave here while you are given your last 24 hours . . . laughing, whining, crying, regretting, planning, playing, hoping, or just waiting? I don’t know about you but I’m leaving here laughing no matter what the circumstances. If you don’t believe me I’ll give you the contact info for my; cardiologist, urologist, and others and you can ask them. Life is short folks. Life is fragile. Live it, have fun, and enjoy it while you are still here. Cause when we are gone – that’s it. And I’m not talking here about Heaven because I haven’t been there yet.
