“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up.” Marilyn Monroe.
She might have been famous, but I am sure she messed up a few times just like the rest of us. Ever met anyone who had a perfect life – no health, relationship, financial or career challenges or problems? One thing I have learned is that life gives us all the choices about how we handle the challenges we get. Some of them can be caused by our choices, actions or attitudes and some can be just because it’s life and no one is immune to problems or negative circumstances. The choice we all have is to learn from them, complain about them, repeat them, blame them or use them to get wiser and smarter. Are there traits that we can have that will determine our choices of actions are better? Yes and here are just a few of them. 1)An attitude of learning. No matter what or who the teacher. 2)A positive perspective grounded in common sense, maturity, reality and a desire to make every day better than the previous one. 3)A mindset that is based on self-love, self-acceptance and self-permission. 4)The use of previous lessons learned from similar circumstances. 5)A desire to use the lesson as a method to help others in similar circumstances and to benefit from your guidance. And 6)A desire to improve your wisdom by using all of life’s circumstances as teachers. Granted none of these are easy or can be developed quickly but the path to self-enlightenment is worth the effort and time.
