MHProNews has been informed by ottawacitizen that award-winning modular home designer Karoleena of Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada has been acquired by Horizon North Logistics, Inc., a builder of relocatable modular workforce housing in remote areas, as well as camp management accommodations and catering.
To meet the growing need for a viable alternative to site construction, objectives for the combined companies include development of a full line of modular homes and multifamily residential, as well as retail and commercial buildings. The combination is also expected to drive the growth of modern modular opportunities, especially in Western Canada.
Kris Goodjohn, co-founder and CPO of Karloeena, said, “The construction industry is ripe for change and we are excited to infuse our brand, culture and style into the Horizon North model to ultimately deliver that change. This is an exciting transaction that will result in a one of a kind offering, being a broad range of modern modular solutions and a real ability to deliver.”
As MHProNews posted May 8, 2015, Karoleena was selected to build the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) show’s prize home. The 3,800 square-foot, $2.1 million dollar modular home took six months to build and 30 days to assemble on-site. ##
